Somewhere Between Dreams & Memories

A heightened multisensory experience that combines spatial audio, video projection and reactive lighting. The work explores the surreal space between organic life and digital death. Resembling a psychedelic experience, or the destruction of a virtual simulation. The piece reflects on escapism as a collective experience. Highlighting how distraction can offer temporary relief from feelings of isolation and loss.

The images were used to generate videos which ranged from 5-10 seconds in length, then edited in premiere pro and after effects to create a cohesive story.

In version 1 the organisms were displayed with sound, vision and haptic feedback. The music: not impossible vest was programs to mimic the motion of the organisms and form relationships with sound and visual cues.

In version 2 the organisms were showcased using a borderless LED display, creating the illusion of a hologram. The work presents through the lens of found footage, as documented by a biologist and hidden in the archives of a secret service agency.

A series of audio-visual experiments from 2024 - 2025. The aim was to utilise emerging technology to create and display a taxonomy of fictional organisms.

The project begun by using AI tools to build a catalogue of fictional organisms using biological classifications. The organisms were materialised using stable diffusion image generator and further edited in photoshop.
